Having a thought-out morning routine that will get you to successfully fit fitness into your day is something a lot of people strive or. Often times we say we don’t have time, but in reality, we just have to be aware of our time in order to get the things done that we want to get done.

I know as a busy mom we can get derailed by all the baby things. We think that the day is going to go perfectly smoothly but the next thing you know, your baby has a fever, and you forgot about the laundry that you left in the dryer yesterday. Or you developing mastitis and the pain is completely kicking you to the curb.

So many things can happen, but what’s important is you try to create a routine stack that you can always go back to when your days go back to normal. Aim for a certain number of days a week where you can stick to the routine. Give yourself some grace because it is quite impossible to have seven days in a row of a perfect morning routine.

But if you strive to achieve even some of this routine stack, you will feel like you’re headed in the right direction. Keep reading to find out what my perfect morning routine looks like and create a morning routine for yourself that will easily allow you to squeeze in a workout.

Systemize Your Life

I love the words routines, schedules, habits, and all the things that go along with that. I belong to Chelsi Jo’s Systemize Your Life VIP Group where I have learned strategic systems and routines to help my day run smoothly.

I feel less chaotic and less overwhelmed in my mommy life because of it. Her course, Systemize Your Life, is something that I talk about daily with my husband and my kids because I need systems in my life for me to feel like I am enjoying my life. Without my systems and without my routines, I feel like I’m running in all directions, which is exhausting. It can be stressful when we don’t have a schedule in place. You probably feel the same way.

What Is Your Dream Routine?

I want to explain a portion of my day and how I wish I would’ve had these routines in place earlier on as a mom. If you get started with a routine stack now as a mom to a little baby, you will just develop good habits in the long run to have the perfect morning routine. Always start small with baby steps, and eventually you’ll get the morning routine of your dreams.

First, I want you to brainstorm what your dream routine is for every morning. Jot down on a piece of paper five things that you want to accomplish before your baby wakes up.

What is important to understand is that a morning routine is the time that you are alone without the children. This is the time that you devote to yourself and your focus is fully on your routine and nothing else.

The length of time can vary from 10 minutes to an hour and longer. What are the things that you want to accomplish in your morning routine? This is just to brainstorm not necessarily what you’re going to get accomplished but something that you can strive towards.

My Perfect Morning Routine

My morning routine looks a little something like this:

First I wake up and I immediately turn around and make my bed. That is a habit that took a lot of practice but I know if I don’t turn around right away and make my bed it’s less likely that I’m going to do it later on.

I head to the bathroom, and then I go over to a quiet place where I do prayer time, devotional time, and reading the Bible.

Depending on the day of the week, I may spend 10 minutes during my quiet time or I may spend 25 minutes. Don’t put pressure on yourself to do any one thing in this routine stack for a long period of time because as a mom we know that your time is limited.

I am a big advocate for just doing two minutes, five minutes, or even seven minutes of any of these things. It doesn’t have to be the standard 20-30 minutes. It’s really what’s best for you.

Working Out Is A Prioirty In My Morning Routine

Next I head over to my basement or the yoga mat in my bedroom and do a workout that is not intense but at the level where I am comfortable for that time of day. I’m still waking up and tired. I don’t have a lot of energy, but I want get moving and doing something. I always feel significantly better working out in the morning.

Later on the day, I end up feeling so much better, and I have more energy throughout the day if I worked out earlier that morning. And I don’t even drink coffee – so you won’t find coffee in my morning routine. Of course, if you are a coffee drinker, you may want to add that into your routine stack if that’s something that you absolutely need to have.

I have a bottle of water, and I try to drink as much water as I can in the morning. My goal is 2 to 3 cups of water every day in the morning. This is something I am still working on and haven’t quite achieved perfectly yet.

Put Yourself Together

Next, I get ready for the day. I typically put on a nicer outfit where I get the feeling of being “put together”. Avoid staying in sweatpants and sweatshirts. I like to feel a little bit nicer in the day; it just signifies that my day is starting when I’m dressed, with my make-up on, my hair done, etc.

Then, if I happen to have extra time in my morning, I like to sit down with my journal and write in my calendar. Typically I write any health changes that I am noticing:

-My mood changes

-Any other significant medical changes that are out of the ordinary

-My weight and body measurements

-Any pain I’m having

I also like to journal in my gratitude journal where I write down one sentence of gratitude. I follow up with a written goal for the day or one win for the day that I want to achieve.  Lastly, I write a bigger goal for the month that I want to achieve. All of this gets my mind set for the day, and I’m focused on one major task. This helps me to avoid feeling bogged down by hundreds of little to-do’s.
