When a new mom asks me what the secret is to losing the postpartum pooch, I tell them The Dream Team: Postpartum Ab Exercises + Postpartum Belly Wraps. Learn more here.
The Dream Team — something I like to call this ultimate duo that really shaped my postpartum recovery and my body. Want to know what I’m talking about?
Stick around because I am going to be talking about the two things that were by far the most impactful in my early motherhood journey. If I were to give advice to a new mom about anything related to fitness and their body, these two things from The Dream Team are the two things I would focus on the most.
Postpartum Ab Exercise + Belly Wraps = No More Postpartum Pooch
You’re wondering what The Dream Team is? It’s postpartum ab exercises plus postpartum belly wraps. That’s it. Those are the two most important things that I encourage every new mom to focus on when they are pumped up and ready to get their pre-pregnancy body back. This is the answer to getting rid of the postpartum Pooch.
Dieting Is Not The Answer To Losing The Postpartum Pooch
It’s not a whole bunch of dieting. It’s not drinking 10 cups of water a day. It’s not about getting eight hours of sleep a day, because that’s just unlikely.
Yes, it would be great to get more sleep, and it would be great to drink as much water as possible but that is a far-fetched reality. It takes time for sleep to get back to normal, and it takes time for you to build up the discipline of drinking water regularly.
The reason why I encourage new moms to focus on postpartum exercises and postpartum belly wraps is because it doesn’t take a lot of time at all and it actually doesn’t take a lot of energy.
Wear A Postpartum Belly Wrap To Flatten Your Mommy Tummy
I first encourage new moms to start wearing their postpartum belly wraps early on in the first stages of recovery. This is as simple as just putting on your shirt every day.
A key tip to remember with the postpartum belly wrap is that you want to start earlier rather than later.
The earlier you start, the better the results. You could start as early as two days postpartum. Some people recommend starting day one but I am not that strict. It’s not going to make that big of a difference to start the moment after delivery. You might as well relax and enjoy your time with your baby.
Get skin to skin contact with your baby the first two days. Something else important to keep in mind is to have a gradual progression of wear time with your postpartum belly wrap.
Quality Postpartum Belly Wraps Improve Results
Buying a good quality postpartum belly wrap is extremely important for best results and consistency in your wear time . There are belly wraps that don’t have enough compression which is necessary to adequately shrink your uterus.
I highly recommend getting a Belly Bandit belly wrap that is extremely comfortable and easy to wear. The more you enjoy wearing your postpartum belly wrap, the more you’re going to wear it, and the more you wear it, the better of the results.
So, I highly encourage you to invest in a postpartum belly wrap that is a good quality that you will want to wear for every postpartum recovery. If you’re going to have more than one baby, you might as well have one really good postpartum belly wrap!

Postpartum Ab Exercises Get Rid Of The Mommy Tummy
The second part of The Dream Team includes postpartum ab exercises. You know that this is my absolute favorite topic to talk about because I’m so passionate about getting your abs back after pregnancy in order to live a strong life forever.
Without strong core muscles, everything else crumbles without a foundation to sit upon. Life is just easier with your daily activities when you have a strong core.
You can listen to Episodes 46 and 36 on the Fit Postpartum Mom Podcast for more information about postpartum ab exercises. But the best way to get started with postpartum exercise is with a simple two minutes exercise you can do daily – abdominal bracing. You can learn about postpartum ab exercises in my free workshop, Postpartum Abs 101, where I teach you how to get started with your first postpartum ab exercise.
How To Get Started With Your First Postpartum Ab Exercise
If you don’t know how to get started with postpartum exercise, I always recommend starting with the core and nothing else. There’s no need for you to work out your arms or your legs or do intense cardio or HIIT workouts because you want to have a strong core in order to do all the other exercises.
And if you want to lose the pooch, sometimes it’s not the excess baby weight. It might be water weight and the stretched-out uterus. Getting the deep inner core muscles stronger can really draw that belly in, and the pooch will vanish extremely quickly.
If you are excited about losing your postpartum pooch, you will get a private invitation into my Postpartum Abs Simplified course after watching the Postpartum Abs 101 workshop. This is my signature course where I take you through all the stages of healing to get your postpartum abs back to a strong, toned and flat stomach.
Losing The Postpartum Pooch Improves Your Confidence
I can’t tell you how much losing my postpartum pooch has improved my life and my confidence. Just being able to fit into my jeans has a been a complete game changer. Being able to pull my jeans up and buttoning them all the way (without the hair tie around the button) makes me feel so good every morning when I get dressed.
Spending a day in my compression leggings was not something that I wanted to do forever. I was ready to go back to my normal life of wearing normal clothes. The Dream Team, postpartum abs exercises and a postpartum belly wrap, is what got me back to living my normal life a lot faster than most moms I know.
My Secret To Losing the Mommy Tummy
After accomplishing my goal of getting back down to my pre-pregnancy jeans, moms were asking me what my secret was. This is what I told them: “The Dream Team”.
To get started with these two crucial members of The Dream Team, get a Belly Bandit postpartum belly wrap, then get started with your first postpartum ab exercise, abdominal bracing. This is completely safe and easy to do as a new mom.
For more information and step-by-step explanation on how to do this exercise, sign up for my free workshop, Postpartum Abs 101. The exercise takes just two minutes! This could be the best two minutes that you’ve spent all day. I can’t wait for you to give it a try and remember to live core strong!
