Physical Therapy Recommended Postpartum Belly Wrap

A brief background on me and my experiences with the 3-in-1 postpartum belly wrap. I’m a physical therapist and a mom of 4, and I wore the wrap with my last two babies.

I had amazing results.

I started wearing the wrap early in the 4th trimester, and within a matter of weeks my stomach shrunk back down to almost its normal size, even without exercise.

I highly recommend all new moms get a postpartum belly wrap to improve the uterine contractions after delivering a baby. This will help the uterus return back to its normal size.

Without a postpartum belly wrap such as the 3-in-1 postpartum belly wrap, it can take several months and sometimes years to get the results that I got in a matter of a few months.

It was effortless to wear, and the results were absolutely worth every penny I spent on the wrap, which wasn’t much at all. You can get this 3-in-1 postpartum belly wrap on Amazon for less than $25.

The Names Of Each Belly Wrap in the 3-in-1 Postpartum Belly Wrap

If you already have a postpartum belly wrap in hand, first let’s understand the names of each of the 3 pieces that come in the package so you know which wrap goes where on your body.

You will receive 3 different sized wraps, and I recommend you get them all out and place them on a table in order as I describe them to you.

1.) The first belly wrap is the Belly Belt. The Belly Belt does not have wings. It’s medium in size compared to the other wraps. It has a distinctive top and bottom. The top has curves while the bottom is a straight line. The tag will be facing in and closest to your body.

2.) The second belly wrap is the Waist Belt. The Waist Belt is slightly larger in size to the Belly Belt. What makes this distinctive from the first belly wrap is that it has wings. The wings will be positioned on the outside while the tag will be on the inside. The top of the wrap has a curve to the sides while the bottom is completely straight across.

3.) The third belly wrap is the Pelvic Belt. The Pelvic Belt is the smallest of the three. It has wings just like the second wrap but the height of the wrap is a lot shorter than the waist belt. The top and the bottom look exactly the same so there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to the direction in which you put it on. However, you always want the wings away from you and the tag closer to your skin.

How Do You Wear The 3-in-1 Postpartum Belly Wrap?

I have a specific protocol that I like to follow when it comes to wearing the 3-in-1 postpartum belly wrap. The goal is to get the maximum benefit within the shortest amount of time. However I also take into consideration other factors such as comfort, healing, breathability on skin and tolerance.

To get started, I recommend reading this article that explains when the optimal time is to start wearing the postpartum belly wrap. Everyone starts wearing postpartum belly wraps at different times due to a number of factors such as delivery complications, C-sections, awareness, readiness, etc. But when you do decide to start wearing a postpartum belly wrap, I recommend following these guidelines below.

Guidelines For How To Wear The 3-in-1 Postpartum Belly Wrap

1. On the first day you wear the postpartum belly wrap, I recommend wearing only the first belt which is called the Belly Belt.

2. Wear the Belly Belt for 1 week with a gradual progression of time each day.

3. On week two, I recommend wearing the second belt on top of the first belt. So on the start of week two you will be wearing belt #1 known as the Belly Belt along with Belt #2 known as the Waist Belt.

4. Continue to wear the two belts together for 1 week total.

5. As you start the third week, I recommend wearing the third wrap known as the pelvic wrap in conjunction with belly wrap #1 and #2. So for week three you will be wearing 3 belly wraps all at once.

6. Continue to wear the three wraps together until you get the desired results. Usually the maximum length of time I recommend wearing the postpartum belly wraps for is 4 months.

Helpful Tips For Wearing The Postpartum Belly Wrap

Some other helpful tips are as follows:

When going out in public, I recommend wearing the first belly wrap, the Belly Belt, because it is the most streamline and comfortable. You won’t see negative effects for decreasing the amount of wear of the three wraps. But you will surely get the maximum benefit the more consistent you are with wearing all three wraps.

Do not sleep in the belly wraps because this is a time to let your skin breathe and get air. You want to avoid any skin breakdown that can occur. Be sure to do skin inspections after each day of wearing.

I don’t recommend wearing the wraps for exercise because this is a time you want to be in tune with your body and practice engaging your core muscles naturally. Also, you want to avoid moisture buildup in the wrap which can cause skin irritation.
