Want to live the fit mom lifestyle but don’t know how when there’s no time? Follow these 3 simple tips that will lead to success.
Hey mama friend!
In episode 38 of my podcast, The Fit Postpartum Mom, I talked about something super important to me. Leaving a legacy for my children. But I’m not talking about a financial legacy, which is usually the most popular legacy to leave for your children. I’m talking about a health legacy.
Did you know I want to live to 100? I want to reach that goal just because it’s a fun number and it’s a huge accomplishment! I think there is so much more life to live when you get to 100.
You see your great-grandchildren, you get to experience so many more memories and travel to so many more places. I love to travel, and I can’t wait to do more of it. But I can only live to 100 if I stay healthy, right?
You Are A Fit Mom
I would classify myself as a fit mom. If you read the book Atomic Habits, James Clear talks about identifying yourself as someone who has that habit before you even encompass that identity. Early on you label yourself as that person as you start to develop that habit more in your life.
So, it’s good to call yourself a fit mom now, even if you don’t feel it or you don’t act like one. But if you want to become one, start to identify yourself as a fit mom. It will help get your head in the game!
3 Things Fit Moms Do
What are the 3 things I do to keep consistent with the fit mom lifestyle? Let’s tackle each of these one at a time. I hope you find this motivating so you can follow in my footsteps and start living the fit-mom lifestyle as well.
1. Have A Routine
You have to have routines if you are going to live the fit mom lifestyle. You have to have the habit of creating routines, sitting down, and writing down what your routines look like. It’s hard to create a routine in your head, floating around without visually seeing it on paper.
Take the time to write down a routine stack in order from start to finish.
Once you have your routines written out, see where you can squeeze fitness into the mix. Find the perfect spot where you know you will be less distracted by life and motherhood. Find the time that you know you can stay consistent to your workouts.
2. Making Exercise A Priority
You have to have that mental shift that you are determined, and you are declaring that fitness is #1 in your life. That might be hard to say out loud because you may consider your baby #1, your husband #1, your job #1, or God is #1 in your life.
There are so many things in your life that are #1. I understand that. But let’s make fitness #1 in your life during a certain part of your life.
Pick that routine stack and narrow it down to a certain part of the day. What time of the day are you going to make exercise #1 on your to-do list? Don’t let anything else get in the way of that workout. Make it a priority for that specific time during that specific day. And repeat that every day you plan to work out.
3. Surround Yourself With Healthy People
This is a game-changer. In Atomic habits, the book talks about how healthy people surround themselves with other healthy people. The healthy behavior easily spreads from one person to the next.
And the same goes for the opposite unhealthy behavior. You are more likely to be unhealthy if you hang out with a group of friends who eat unhealthy foods and partake in unhealthy habits.
You have a choice to be encouraged by your friends, to stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle or you can continue to struggle through the health journey because your environment sets you up for failure and the people you invite into that environment lead you down a hard path of unhealthy behaviors.
