Hey mama friend!

We all know that a lot can happen when we take care of our babies — spit-ups, blowouts, constant cries, anything goes! Anything can happen when it comes to a newborn. Well, I have 5 funny ways to incorporate exercise when things don’t go your way or you have that moment of “I can’t believe that just happened!”. We are going to tie those whoopsie moments in to some exercise routines.

You can choose to be a fit mom if you change your mindset throughout your motherhood journey. This is as great way to start. Start by looking at the positives when your baby does something that might normally frustrate you or aggravate you. Let’s hold it all together, keep your mind focused on fitness and try to ignore the frustration that might build up inside you when you have a situation arise.

Incorporate Exercise into Daily Life as a Busy Mom

#1 Baby Blow Out = Jump Squats

It’s happened to all of us. Our baby had a blow out and it’s quite a mess. The mess derails you from your plans. You were going to do one thing but now you have to change your babies outfit, start a load of laundry and clean up the mess.

But let’s not get frustrated but rather do some jump squats to follow up with the process of cleaning up. Set a timer for one minute and squat down and jump up. This will definitely get your heart rate going. Burn off some steam and before you know it, you’ll be glad you did the exercise. You’ll have fun in the end.

#2 Baby Spit-Up = Push-Ups

Your baby just had a humongous spit-up that ended up down your chest and ran down to your belly button. Yuck! When this happens, of course you are going to need to change your clothes first, but then I want you to exercise.

After you get cleaned up, get down on the floor and do some push-ups. You can do a variety of options for push-ups. Pick a push-up style that you are comfortable with. Maybe you like to do push-ups on your hands and knees. That’s absolutely fine. Or you can do the standard push-up on your hands and toes. The goal is to get 10 push-ups in. If neither of those options work for you, use the wall for the push-ups. No matter what position you choose, a push-up of some kind is going to serve you well after a spit-up occurs. You’ll feel stronger and more powerful.

#3 Baby Wakes in the Night = Oblique Twists

The waking in the night — it’s something we despise. Every time your baby wakes you up in the middle of the night I want you to do some oblique twists. I know you are going to be rocking your baby, walking around the room and trying to get your baby to go back to bed. Why not contract your abs and focus on oblique twists while rocking your baby. You’ll feel an instant improvement in your posture when doing this.

#4. Baby Makes Mess with Food = Single Leg Roman Deadlift

Your baby throws food on the floor from the highchair, or the food hits the wall, or your baby combs her food all throughout her hair. When any of those moments happen, you are going to do a single leg roman deadlift. This exercise is a great way to engage the hamstrings and your glutes.

Anytime you need to bend over to pick up something off the floor, like spilled food, perform this exercise at the same time. Balance on one leg, keep that stance leg slightly bent at the knee, bend over at the waist and touch the floor with your hand while your opposite leg raises up behind you. Then return to standing position after you pick up the item you are cleaning up. It’s a fun way to bend over and it’s great for your balance.

#5 Baby Bites You = Butt Squeezes

When your baby bites you, during nursing or any other time, do an exercise to relieve the frustration that arises. When your baby bites you, rather than getting upset, perform butt squeezes. This exercise is also known as glute sets. Take that anger out with every squeeze you do. Perform butt squeezes by squeezing your glutes together and hold it for 2 seconds, release and perform 20 reps .
