Have you been seeing these ads pop up on your feed lately for compression leggings? What’s so special about them?

Well, let me tell you, I’m not a big shopper. But when it comes to compression leggings, I’m all in, especially for moms who are pregnant or postpartum.

In this article we are going to be talking all things compression leggings and the 3 main reasons why I love them so much.

And I know you will, too.

At the end I’ll share with you my absolute favorite product. I don’t want you buying some kind of knock-off compression leggings that actually do nothing for your legs.

You want to buy good quality when it comes to compression leggings, otherwise it just won’t work. You’ll understand what I’m talking about as you read through this article.

Compression Stockings To Help With Pain and Swelling

So, why am I so passionate about compression leggings?

Because I had a bit of problem when I was pregnant with a few of my babies. I had severe varicose veins and swelling that actually prevented me from walking long distances.

And if you know me, I like to walk and I like to be on the move, all the time. So the fact that my veins were causing me pain and prohibiting me from walking was something I knew could be prevented, I got myself a pair of compression stockings that were prescribed from my doctor.

But let me tell you, those compression stockings were not fun to wear. Super hot, hard to get on and unsightly. Especially wearing them in the summer, that was the worst.

How Do Compression Leggings Help?

Skip a few months later to postpartum recovery and I still had varicose veins.

And that’s when compression leggings came in.

I’m a big advocate for prevention, and if you can get your hands on some compression leggings sooner rather than later, you’ll be good to go.

Whether you are pregnant or postpartum, all moms should wear leggings that actually support your legs.

Here are the 3 main reasons why I love compression leggings so much:

spider veins

1) Prevent Spider Veins And Varicose Veins

We all know what spider veins look like. The tiny purple veins that look like a spider web throughout your skin.

But varicose veins are the greenish-looking veins that bulge out.

According to an article from The Iowa Clinic, there are many reasons why women can get varicose veins when pregnant. It could be from elevated hormone levels, restricted blood flow or even genetics.

I had varicose veins and actually had to have a procedure to remove one. It wasn’t fun. And it can be prevented with the help of compression leggings.

So, rather than wait it out to see if the veins improve on their own, which is rare, just get the postpartum compression leggings early on to prevent the veins from getting worse.

2) Reduce Swelling In Your Legs And Feet

Most women have swelling when they are pregnant which can linger into postpartum.

That swelling can be controlled with the help of compression leggings.

Compression leggings can also help increase the amount of blood that flows back to the heart from the legs when you are working out. As a result, you might notice less cramping in your legs or less fatigue toward the end of your workout when you wear them.

If you are experiencing a lot of swelling in your legs or you see an indentation around your ankle from your socks, that means you need some postpartum compression leggings.

You’ll be surprised how quickly you can get the swelling out, and your legs will feel so much lighter.

 3) Postpartum Compression Leggings Give A Slimming Effect

Postpartum compression leggings can give you the appearance of being slimmer!

Whether that’s shaping your legs or helping tuck the pooch in, your whole lower body from your ribs down will appear tighter and look more firm. It’s a win in my book.

I love these compression leggings, especially in those early months postpartum when you aren’t allowed to work out yet and you just need a little help with reducing the appearance of the extra baby weight.

Postpartum Compression Leggings and Postpartum Belly Wraps Are The Perfect Pair

If you are wearing a postpartum belly wrap like this one, these compression leggings are a great match to go with it. You just put the belly wrap right over the top of the belly portion of the postpartum compression leggings, and you are good to go.

You can grab my favorite pair of postpartum compression leggings from Belly Bandit here!

Why do I love these so much over all the other brands? Because Belly Bandit’s style keeps up with the trends and the degree of compression is practically medical grade. Like I said, I have had medical grade stockings in the past, and these compression leggings are just as tight if not tighter than the prescribed ones from the doctor.

If you are loving all things compression and want to learn more about belly wraps, check out my blog post here where I review and talk all about the features of the best belly wraps.

And I also mention my favorite belly wrap,  The Luxe Postpartum Belly Wrap, as my go-to recommendation. Let me know if you have any questions and drop them in the comments below.
