Is there something in your life that you have dreamed about for a long time? Do you have this vision of something really wonderful but you are just not sure if it will actually happen in your life? Do you have this monumental goal that is so big that you actually brushed it aside; however, months or years later, this goal of yours continues to linger in your mind?

Take a moment and think……Did something come to mind?

Is there something that you have always thought about accomplishing but never took even one step in the right direction towards that goal?

Maybe it’s getting a promotion at the company you work for. Possibly it’s losing that 30 lbs. that you promised yourself you would lose New Year’s day 2014. Maybe it’s a home project, like renovating the basement, and you had a goal to complete it in one month instead of 6 months. Whatever the goal is consider this…..

“Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate, and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.”

Paulo Coelho

Instead of having a generalized idea in your mind of what you think you might want, you should set a clear and specific goal and what you are actually going to do to accomplish that goal. Don’t just say out loud, “I am going to be the parent who never screams at my kids” and then don’t actually make any effort towards not screaming. Instead, take 5 minutes and think about how you can actually achieve your goal and how long will it take you to achieve it.

Set realistic expectations of yourself. On a note card, write down your goal, your goal date to achieve it and about 3 actions you need to take in order to achieve your goal. This can be used as a reminder of what you are trying to work towards. (For fun, use bright and exciting colors to make it more enjoyable to look at!)

On the back, write this quote down to help motivate you!
